Nowadays, people choose
to see movies online or rent DVDs instead of going to theaters unless they want
to see 3D movies for greater visual and audio effects. But will anyone go there
for art movies? Their survival is more difficult than commercial movies let
alone the self-supporting cinemas showing mostly art movies.
107 art cinema in
National Central University is just this kind of theater. Has 107 ever thought
of changing the position as an art cinema? ‘‘No!’’ the manager of 107, Su Yee
Hsiao, firmly answered.
‘‘Sometimes
I may refer to audience favor when choosing movies, but I really want to show
art movies shot by great directors such as Koreeda Hirokazu. Even these movies are not a
blockbuster, they are definitely worth watching!’’ Hsiao added.
107 craves to be an
art cinema not just in NCU. ‘‘In May 25th to 26th , 107
will hold a great Sundance Film Festival which is famous in American
independent films. Because several renowned directors and mass media will
attend the activity, it will be an excellent chance to let more
people in Taoyuan recognize 107,’’ the manager remarked.
107 is an uncompromising
cinema continuously providing a place for art movies addicts; meanwhile, endeavoring
to bring more people unfamiliar with art movies inside. Let’s see how 107
touches everyone by its great art movies!
107 is one of the most important landmark in NCU. Actually some films though are not attractive like Hollywood films which has huge cast and special effects, those films have its own unique charisma which those Hollywood films don't have.

In this free-competing society, it is likely that such a cinema without many resources may disappears while competing with a cinema like VIESHOW. In addition to the owner insisting on his dream, the only solution is to ask government for help, making such a great cinema in school survive!

I think what makes 107 unique is that it has many art movies and nonmainsteams. Too many Hollywood movies will make it's artistry value go down.
